Lonely Boat Heading For Sailing Charity
One of the main aims of the Lonely Boats offering is to give these forgotten boats a new lease of life. It’s always nice to hear when a boat sells that they are going off to help a charity.
We had been asked to share a Sailfish 18 which was in a garden in Gosport going nowhere fast. Her owner bought her as a project and sadly came to the conclusion that he was unlikely to ever finish her. It could have been a boat that could have been destined for the scrapyard.
Overpaid During Covid
When it came to visiting the boat we tried to be as honest as possible with the owner about the boat. In our opinion he overpaid to buy her during Covid. Plus in her current state there would be no guarantee she would sell. It was always going to be a slow burner of a sale and we were hoping for just one serious enquiry. After a few weeks that’s exactly what came.
After speaking with the interested party her owner informed us that a deal had been done. More importantly payment had been taken. The new owner told him that the boat will be taken to Rutland Water and restored. Then out on the water to be used by a Sailing Charity who get visually impaired and blind sailers sailing.
A New Home
Our team were really glad to hear that she would be going to such a good new home. Rather than just going to sit in another boat yard untouched. We hope that the charity get plenty of use from her.
