Microplus 501 Collected from Northampton Garden

Microplus 501 Garden Collection
Our boat disposal team were tasked with removing two small boats from a garden in Northampton. This would usually be a simple enough job. Previously the usual plan would be to turn up with a trailer and our team then man handle or winch the boats on. Or in more awkward circumstances we might need to chop the boats up on site. This is something we like to avoid as it’s messier and more time consuming.
Unfortunately this job was made slightly more awkward by the lack of access. Both small boats were on rusty trailers which wouldn’t move. This meant they could just be towed out into the road for loading. We had hoped that a nice Light Microplus 501 would have been easy to shift around. Added to that was the garden they were in had a narrow alleyway along the back of the property. It would have been near impossible for us to be able to get out truck into the garden to pull the boats away. In summary we’re not quite sure how they got in there in the first place.
The High Road
We discussed with the owner and decided that the best course of action would be to take the high road. Our simplest option was to lift the boats over the wall using our Hiab. The property was adjacent to the road and we were confident that we could load them safely.
Usually the Microplus 501s are quite sought-after boats. This time sadly it looked a bit too far gone to try and save. There were also a couple of outboards chucked in but they were all seized solid.
Our Hiab truck parked up next to the wall. Afterwards he set out the legs and then the driver walked into the garden to sling the boats. First of all the open dinghy hull and then on the Microplus 501 on top. After about half an hour the boats were strapped down and the driver was heading for home.
We didn’t load the trailers but the local scrap metal guys will be able to take them for the owner.
If you have an old boat in your garden it’s our specialist subject. Just fill in the Scrap Calculator and our team will work out the best price.

Luke completed a journalism degree in Brighton University and fortunately for us uses this in his communications, Facebook posts, Tweets and emails to tell all our enquirers and followers what we are up to. Without Luke we would be lost, he runs the office, keeps us organised and is like a terrier and never lets a tricky boat disposal job go un-photographed or Tweeted about.
He also manages all of our enquiries passing them to whoever in the team is the best suited to deal with it. We are teaching Luke how to drive a motorboat or sail a yacht so while he’s learning we suggest you keep out of the Solent!
When he’s not at work he’s a massive football fan (his Dad used to play for Portsmouth FC years ago) and seems to know everything there is to know about any player, anywhere. Next time you ring and he answers, think of a tricky football trivia question and ask him
