Lonely Boat SOLD in 2 Days with 50+ Enquiries!

Lonely Boat Monterey 270 Sold in 2 Days

The Boatbreakers team had been asked to share a Monterey 270 for sale in Gosport. She was in dry storage at Premier Marina which is just around the corner from our office. The boat had been out of the water for around 5 years. Her owner had begun making an effort to get her ready to go back in the water. He had the topsides polished, the cover repaired and refreshed, plus engine and leg off to be serviced.

However a local marine engineering firm then found that the engine was effectively a write off. It needed so many new parts and work it would be more cost effective for a new one. This left the owner in a predicament, does he pay almost 30k to get the boat back up together? Or should he sell cheap as a project? Of course there is always the option to scrap. But we explained to the owner that this boat would definitely not need to be scrapped!

Over the Asking Price

After a short discussion with the owner we agreed that a Lonely Boat advert would be the best place to start. Previously we had taken our own set of pictures for the boat and her engine. Our advert was created and listed on the Boat Scrapyard Group on a Monday morning. By the end of the working day we had 36 enquiries with bids to buy the boat. The next morning we had even more which pushed the interest to over 50 people. To our surprise the bids had even gone well over the asking price of £8,500.

Subsequently all of the people’s details were sent across for the owner to consider. We had ranked a few of the enquiries if we knew who they were and trusted that they wouldn’t be time wasters. By the end of day two the boat was sold to one of the group members on the list.

No Hassle Project Boat Sale

We received a call from the owner who was delighted with the result of listing the boat on our Lonely Boats page. For £100 with no commission to pay there can’t be many cheaper ways to move on a project boat with such little hassle.

Finally if you have a Lonely Boat sat in a marina then get in contact. We might just be able to help you find a buyer for her! We can’t promise a sale but we can almost guarantee some serious enquiries. Just visit the Lonely Boat page for more information. If you are looking to scrap your boat visit the Scrap Your Boat page. Lastly our team will always suggest a Lonely Boat advert if we think that your boat could be saved.

He also manages all of our enquiries passing them to whoever in the team is the best suited to deal with it. We are teaching Luke how to drive a motorboat or sail a yacht so while he’s learning we suggest you keep out of the Solent!
