Boat Photography: Photography Showcase Chris Leighton

Old Boats at Emsworth
Boat Photography Showcase. Boatbreakers are always looking to spread the word around the issue of boat disposal. We feel that a perfect way to do this is to get as many people aware of the problem as possible. A great way to do this is through Art and Photography. Therefore we want to engage with artist and photographers who are using boats or recycled boats as their inspiration.
At the end of 2019 we wanted to get more Artists and Photographers involved in what we do. We think that old and abandoned boats are great inspiration for art. Whether it’s the boats themselves or creating art out of pieces of boat.
Local photographer, Chris Leighton, got in contact and wanted to contribute. Chris regularly walks around the Emsworth area which is a beautiful part of Chichester Harbour. However she had noticed how a number of boats had become an eyesore. We discussed how these boats would be perfect content for our website as it helps to highlight the growing issue of abandoned boats.
Chris explained, “I was a press photographer years ago and since moving from Norfolk to Hampshire I have only shot for pleasure. I have a Flickr account but most of my images rarely see the light of day, which is why I was drawn to your advert.
“I am not sure that I have many of derelict boats but living in Emsworth I am surrounded by them and this will give me a project and something to do when I go for my walks.”
If you are a Photographer or Artist and have boat related pictures you would like featured, get in contact! You can email, Tweet, Facebook or Instagram us. Furthermore the same can be said for writers. If you have an opinion piece on the issue of boat disposal we’d also be happy to feature you in our blog.

Luke completed a journalism degree in Brighton University and fortunately for us uses this in his communications, Facebook posts, Tweets and emails to tell all our enquirers and followers what we are up to. Without Luke we would be lost, he runs the office, keeps us organised and is like a terrier and never lets a tricky boat disposal job go un-photographed or Tweeted about.
He also manages all of our enquiries passing them to whoever in the team is the best suited to deal with it. We are teaching Luke how to drive a motorboat or sail a yacht so while he’s learning we suggest you keep out of the Solent!
When he’s not at work he’s a massive football fan (his Dad used to play for Portsmouth FC years ago) and seems to know everything there is to know about any player, anywhere. Next time you ring and he answers, think of a tricky football trivia question and ask him
