Boat Crash Disposal

Recently the Boat breaking team were asked to dispose of a boat that was involved in a crash at the Isle of Wight. The boat in question was now back in Gosport at one of the local dry stacks.

Every now and then we will be asked to dispose of a boat that has been involved in some sort of collision. Usually they are boats that have come off of their mooring in storms and smashed against another. We’ve already disposed of a few Westerly Centaurs this year where this happened. However this crashed boat disposal was slightly different.

Police Investigation

From what we have been told the boat hit something hard over in Cowes. Judging by the damage it must have been a wall. The boat was then motored back to Gosport where she was lifted out of the water. Three injured crew were taken to hospital and a police investigation followed. After all of this we were asked to collect and dispose of the boat.

As you can see from the pictures it’s a minor miracle she made it back across the solent. Her crew were also extremely lucky that everyone walked away from the crash as it was clearly a big impact. As boat breakers we have never seen the front of a boat so badly damaged.

When it came to disposal the marina team forklifted her down onto our flatbed trailer. We then brought her back to base to remove her outboard engine. There wasn’t much left onboard of any note or real value. This is often the case on big power boats. They look great and sporty but when it comes to breaking them down there isn’t much to remove.

Boat Scrapyard

As crash disposal jobs go this one was fairly straightforward. Once the boat was stripped down at our warehouse in Gosport it was taken to the scrapyard to be crushed down. The original story for the boat crash can be seen here.

If you have had a boat that has been in a collision we can assist with disposal. Just fill in the Scrap Calculator form and we will work out the best price to collect and dispose of the boat.
